Our History
It has been a long dream for the Benavides family to own their own Funeral Home. They made that dream come true in the early months of 2020 when they stepped forward and purchased a small funeral home on 34th Street, formerly known as Chapel of Grace, now called House of Angels Funeral Home. Father and son team, Rick and Eric Benavides, with their dream of owning a funeral home, proceeded to recruit the right staff for their dream to become a reality.
House of Angels Funeral Home, a true family-owned and Operated Funeral Home. A Father and Son Team as Owners of this wonderful establishment, and a Mother and Daughter Team who are Fully Licensed Funeral Directors with over 36 years of experience between the two of them. We at House of Angels Funeral Home pride ourselves in treating each and every family we serve as family of our own. We believe that each family deserves to be treated with the utmost Respect, Dignity, and Honor. We believe that each family deserves a personalized Celebration of Life Service for their loved ones. Therefore, we offer elegant services at economical prices, with many different options for Burial or Cremation.
Here at House of Angels, we strive to make a difference in the lives of the families and friends that walk through our doors. The families that we serve are coming to us in their most vulnerable time of life; some have never dealt with loss, and some have seen it too often. The ladies and gentlemen that we are serving are putting their trust in us to honor their loved one in a way that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. So here at House of Angels Funeral Home, all families that come through our doors are treated with respect and as if they were our own family.

A New Chapter
In 2026, House of Angels entered a new chapter as Deana and Rebecca Grissom became one of the few mother-and-daughter owned and operated funeral homes in Texas. Below, Deana shares this journey in her own words.
Wow! What a ride, if you have a minute I want to share an amazing story with you.
2020 was the year, a year that we all will remember for the rest of our lives, it was the year that changed how we think, dress, socialize and even how we shop for clothes and groceries. Our world was hit with a pandemic like no other. However, that is not all that I remember about 2020.
In July of 2020 I was asked to join this amazing team of men that had a vision, a vision to help our community during a really rough time in life. Eric Benavides, with the advisement of his father, Rick Benavides bought a building with the vision of a Funeral Home being opened in it. I joined along side of them with this dream, for me this dream has been around for a very long time. Together we opened House of Angels Funeral Home in Lubbock and began loving on our families and new friends in our community, this was such a blessing in so many ways. We all had the vision to serve families, not just to have a business, but to really “SERVE” our families with prayers, love and encouragement. My daughter, Rebecca, joined our team in 2021 as a part time assistant, working her way to becoming a licensed Funeral Director. Together we have continued to serve our communities and families.
In March of 2024, the dream to expand our little funeral home on 34th happened, we bought, remolded and opened a second location in Brownfield, Texas, again with the vision to serve our community.
Please don’t think we did all of this on our own, because that is very far from true, because God is in this story. We had so much love and support from all of our families and friends. We also had and still do have wonderful staff that work right alongside of us every day.
I have told you this very short story to tell you this….. on April 28, 2026, Eric Benavides allowed myself and my daughter, Rebecca, the opportunity to become one of the only “Mother & Daughter, owned and operated” funeral homes in the State of Texas. Rebecca and I are so humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve our communities during their times of need. We are here to walk along side of each and everyone of you that will allow us to be a part of journey.
Please know that we will continue to serve our communities with the same passion and services, offering elegant services at economical prices, and that’s not going to change.
