It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Shon Thomas Rushmore on December 23rh, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. Shon was born on July 4th, 1972, in Ft. Stockton, Texas—beloved son to Jana Rushmore and brother to Jerry Gourley, & Brandon Moore. Shon married his soulmate, the love of his life Dianna Galloway Rushmore in a private ceremony in 2018. They came together holding similar life experiences and trials that they each faced. Together they lived a devoted lifestyle, creating lifelong memories with family and friends. They enjoyed a balance of adventure and relaxation; from rafting, and floating the river to walking their fur babies, Jax & Dottie, tattooing, and watching movies. He was a fan of Marvel vs DC and the Joker. Shon received his HVAC license in 2023 and worked as a Yard Leadman over Fire Control with PYCO Industries. Shon was a hard worker, easily tougher than nails. Everything he did in his life he did with 110% of his effort and determination. He never backed down in the face of adversity. Despite obstacles in his life, Shon achieved so much. He never regretted his choices or mistakes; he felt that his path carved him into the man he was. Shon was nothing short of a Warrior and he chose to live by the Viking Code daily. Shon's spirit was one you simply cannot forget. His love and devotion to his family and friends sprinkled with his impeccable humor is something everyone who knew him will treasure and hold very close to their hearts.

Shon was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter; Annora Ruelle Mendez- Higgs.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna; the children of his heart; J'Anna Higgs, Turtle James Higgs, Kierra Higgs; his grandchildren; James Vincent Higgs the 5th, and Elaya Luz Calderon.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
