IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Lee
Fowler
July 12, 1938 – January 23, 2025
Roy Lee Fowler, of Dimmitt and Hereford, passed away at the age of 86. Roy was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, while his loved ones waited to see him too. Roy was born in Ringling, OK., on July 12, 1938, he was the oldest of the twin boys born to Lester Dee Fowler and Pearl Elizabeth Katherine (Loyd) Fowler. As a young man Roy met and married the love of his life, the late Melba LaJuan (Presley) Fowler, together they began their family. They had 55 years together until her passing in 2013. Roy and LaJuan had three children.
Roy was a simple man; he loved the Lord and his family with all his might. He was a very hard worker and took pride in all that he did. Roy was a hay hauler back in the day and would work from sunup to sundown out in the hay fields, for several years he was a painter in the construction industry, and during his "Retirement "he was still busy being the Local handyman for folks in the Hereford and Dimmitt Communities. Roy's love for the Lord showed in his walk of life, he served in the church as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, Royal Rangers Leader and a male role model for the young men in our community.
In 2014 he married Mary Ann Elliott Resch, this union began with a longtime friendship, that grew into a 10-year loving marriage. This union welcomed three additional children along with grandchildren. Roy and Mary Ann loved to travel and would just decide that they would go "Camping" anytime they were tired of looking at the same old scenery. Some days they would just "take the backroads" and drive for hours to stop and eat at some small hole in the wall restaurant. He always had a story to tell, maybe there was a lesson to be learned by the time he finished the story, or maybe it was just to make you laugh, either way, he loved to tell his story.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ann Fowler; daughter, Kim Hays and husband Steve of Odessa, TX.; sons, Don Fowler and wife Sandie of Hereford, TX, and Brian Fowler and wife Dena of Melissa, TX; bonus daughters, Debbie Wait of Dimmitt, TX. and Deana Grissom and husband Billy of Lubbock, TX.; bonus daughter in law, Cheryl Resch of Gonzales, TX; twin brother, Troy Fowler and wife Pat King of Hereford, TX; younger brother, Donald Gene Fowler and wife, Karen of Alvoid, TX; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and several extended family members and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; Les and Pearl Fowler; wife, LaJuan Fowler; sisters, Magoriet (Margie) M. Fowler, Rena Kay Milam and Diana Sue Fowler; brothers, David Fowler and Gerald Fowler; bonus son, Rick Resch.
