Pedro Villarreal, Sr., 88 of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was born on January 20, 1934, in Guadalupe De La Corrientes, Zacatecas, Mexico to Alejo and Gregoria (Alvarado) Villarreal. He married Mercedes Alvarado on November 26, 1956, in Sudan, Texas and together they began their family. Pedro loved spending time playing washers with his grandchildren and was a wonderful grandpa. He played bingo, doing artwork, gardening, and working as a cowboy with his cattle and horses.
Those left to cherish his memory are his five children, Armando Villarreal and wife Nora, Pedro Villarreal, Jr., Emma Davila and husband Jesse, David Villarreal and wife Angie and Ramiro Villarreal; one brother, Espidirion Villarreal; two sisters, Socorro Villarreal and Maria De la Luz; twelve grandchildren, Jason Villarreal Hernandez, Beronica Fullbright, Jessica Montemayor, Marcella Villarreal, Alejandro Villarreal, Steven Villarreal, Meesha Mammen, Rebecca Villarreal, Marivel Villarreal, Arath Villarreal, Giselle Villarreal, and Eian Villarreal; sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Pedro was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes; parents, Alejo and Gregoria Villarreal: son, Ruben Villarreal, and grandson Maximus Villarreal.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas.
