Paula Luera

Paula Luera, 77, of Brownfield Tx took the hand of Jesus and entered her eternal home on January 26, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1948 in Yorktown, Tx to Sirildo and Dominga (Ortiz) Arguellez. Paula was born to take care of people from a young age. She loved cooking for everyone when they were sick, if there was a death in the family, or if she felt like they needed a homemade treat. Paula married the love of her life, Alvino Luera, and they were married on July 11, 1963 in Lamesa, Tx.. They were married for 61 years before he passed away on November 28, 2024. They were blessed with 5 children; Sandra, Arcelia, Jessie, Alvino Jr, and Ricky.

Paula was greeted at Heavens gate by her husband, Alvino; sons, Alvino Luera, Jr. and Ricky Luera; son-in-law, Luis Villarreal; her parents, Sirildo and Dominga Arguellez; sister, Maria Cruz; brothers, Elogio Arguellez, Catarino Arguellez, Domingo Arguellez, Luis Arguellez, Roberto Arguellez and Genaro Arguellez.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sandra Villarreal, Arcelia Nerios and husband Enrique, and Jessie Luera and wife, Amber; siblings, Raul Arguellez, Ismael Arguellez, SirildoArguellez, Jr., and Juanita Lerma; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 

A visitation will be on January 29th, from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the House of Angels Funeral Home in Brownfield with a prayer service to begin at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday January 30th at 1 p.m. at Templo Betel, 905 S. 5th St with Santos Gamez officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Brownfield Cemetery immediately following services.
