Obituary

Norma Burress, 95, of Houston passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Norma was born in Cisco, Texas on March 2, 1928, to Nolan A. and Lydia Orene (Rone) Berry. The Berry family moved to West Texas when Norma was 12 where she grew up on a farm. Norma graduated from Lubbock High School and worked for Southwest Bell as a telephone operator until she met her husband, Ronald Burress. They married in 1960 and soon had their only child, Wesley, in 1961. Wesley was the light of her life and she felt so blessed to be his mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker through Wesley's youth. In later years, she worked as an operator for the University Medical Center and volunteered for many years at the hospital after her retirement. Norma lived an active life and enjoyed travelling. She will be remembered as a loving wife, and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents Nolan and Orene Berry; her son, Wesley Burress; her sister, Doris (Berry) Connell and her brothers Robert Berry and Billy Berry. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Berry) Loven, her grandchildren, Elizabeth, and Calvin Burress; her daughter-in-law, Jamie (Loeschner) Burress and niece Judy (Connell) Robertson. Norma also leaves behind many other cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherish her memory.
