Maria Valderaz Najera

Maria Edwina Najera celebrated her 80th birthday as she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, Maria passed away on Saturday, April11, 2026, at her home surround by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1946, in Slaton, Texas to Geronimo and Thomasa (Morales) Valderaz. Maria was a very hard worker at such a young age, she began housekeeping chores that helped her in her adult life. She was a true woman of God, a strong, traditional, Christian woman. Maria loved everyone that she met, she was a very caring person who had the biggest heart. In her younger days, she fixed hair for her friends and family, she was a Teen Center Coordinator for centers in the New Mexico area. She loved going to the movies with her family, she was a loving wife, mom, grams and friend to everyone that knew her, she will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Paul Najera; sons, Henry Hernandez, David Hernandez and wife Kim, Michael Hernandez and wife Irene, James Hernandez and wife Becky, and Chris Hernandez; daughters, Sherry Najera, Vernice Najera, and Erica Hopper and husband R.P.; daughter in love, Laura Hernandez; nineteen grandchildren, Noey, Kimberly, Nathan, Aaron, Kayla, Amari, Amberlee, Ezra, Amanda, Ian, Sabrina, Brittany, Emily, Isaac, Karolina, Carter, Cash, Presley and London; ten great grandchildren, Haley, Elijah, Apollo, Rosemary, Miles, Alina, Samuel, Kameron, Matthew, and Xavier; three great-great grandchildren, Zaybien, Dominic, and Jessie, sister, Estella Olivas and husband Lee.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Geronimo and Thomasa Valderaz, brothers, Manuel Valderaz, Rafael Valderaz, Arnulfo Valderaz, Frank Valderaz, Ruben Valderaz, and Antonio Valderaz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a pray services being held at 6:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home, 1928 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79411. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Woodrow, Texas. Maria’s pallbearers will be, Nathan Hernandez, Noe Hernandez, Isaac Hernandez, Matthew Hernandez, Elijah Lovato and JP Meseros.
