IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria Angela
Duran
October 10, 1944 – March 12, 2024
Maria "Angela" Duran, of Lubbock, born in San Ignacio Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 10, 1944, passed away in Lubbock, TX on March 12, 2024, at the age of 79. Angela was a Catholic and had tremendous faith and trust in God. She garnered love, devotion, and immense admiration from those who knew her. She lived her life as a true Proverbs 31 woman, trusting in God and believing in Jesus Christ as her Savior.
Angela is survived by her two daughters Irene Mitchell and Patricia Duran De Anda and husband Augustine Noe De Anda, two sons, Manuel Duran Jr and wife Diane Duran, and Ricardo (Ricky) Duran and wife Stephanie Duran. Angela also leaves behind two sisters, Olga Guzman, Enedina Konicky, and one brother, Jose Vivian Martinez, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Her journey began marrying her late husband of 63 years, Manuel Duran Sr., on December 18, 1960. She taught her way through beauty school, received her beauty license, and then retired as a color technician after 40+ years in the industry. She was unequivocally proud of her four children and grandchildren. After retirement she became a stay-at-home wife and grandma. She very much enjoyed spoiling her precious grandchildren, playing bingo, cards, dominoes, going out to eat and traveling with her late husband to Las Vegas, NV where her passion was winning big on the penny slot machines!
Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Duran Sr.; her precious grandchildren, Christopher Mitchell, Samantha Marie Duran and Joshua Noel De Anda; her parents, Vivian Leon and Miguelina Martinez; brother, Leonardo Martinez; sisters, Hilda Gonzales, Eva Guzman, and Cruz Escalon.
Angela will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished. We love you mamacitas!
