Mae Bell Myers, 89, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 1, 1936 in Cameron, Texas to Edward Johnson Sr., and Sarah Bunton Johnson, she was the first of eleven children. As a young adult she married and began her family, her first job was in downtown Lubbock as a dishwasher at the Caprock Hotel, that then became a cafeteria worker and cook within the Lubbock schools. She loved to cook and bake for all occasions. She enjoyed her dish of ice cream with her family and friends on a regular basis. Mae Bell was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are her daughters; Janet Johnson Coleman and husband Michael, Sr., of South Carolina, Brenda Johnson Wilson and husband Anthony, Sr., of Denver Colorado, Yvonne Johnson Parks and husband Larry, Sr., of Lubbock, Texas, and Julia Myers of Lubbock, Texas; sons, Milus Johnson and wife Glenda, George Myers and wife Brenda, and Dwight Myers and wife Amy; siblings, Edward Johnson, Jr. and wife Carol, Jimmie Lee Johnson, and Mary Helen Hamilton; grandchildren, Rodgrick, Michael, Jr., Deandra, Jannece, Anthony, Jr., Kevin, Jamonica, Larry, Jr., Milus, Jr., Jalenda, Jacquetta, Felton, Jr., Frederick, Fredron, Jacole, Julis, Jr., Bradon, and Brooklyn, a host of great grandchildren, and several great- great grandchildren
Mae Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Sr. and Sarah Johnson; sisters, Betty Flowers, Jamie Ruth, and Barbara Flowers; brothers, Elmo Johnson, Jim Johnson and Walter B. Johnson; sons, Harold Johnson, and Julius Myers; and son-in-law, Felton Davis, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
The Myers family would like to share a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Cuidado Casero Hospice for the extra special care that was given to Ms. Myers and her family during her time with them.
