Obituary

Born February 7, 1945 to James Weldon and Amy Loudell Parrish Onley in Scroggins Texas, Rachel Louise Onley Taylor, like so many in her family, was called by her middle name. Louise was affectionately known to her dad as Toots (sounds like Tootsie). The family was very close, including one older sister, Reba Helen Onley Cook, that preceded her in death. Louise also had 4 brothers, William Happel, who also preceded her in death, Leonard Edwin, Albert Glen and Clifford Neil. Weldon was a storyteller. Louise loved his stories, she loved repeating his stories continuing to do so well after his death. She also related many fond memories of life with her brothers and sister. Louise adored her mother. At age 35, she was devastated at the loss of her mother but like the rest of her family, continued to plunge ahead loving every moment when she could reunite with her brothers and sister and their families. Family get-togethers, inspired by her mother and encouraged by her dad, were a must and she enjoyed every moment that she was together with her family. After having moved with her dad, mom and younger brother Cliff from east Texas to Lubbock, Louise married the love of her life, Paul Edwin Taylor on August 24, 1963. Louise gladly added to her family 3 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Taylor Edwards, Sylvia Westbrook and Glenda Upchurch, and one brother-in-law, Gary Taylor. After more than 47 years of marriage, Paul preceded her in death in February of 2011. In June of 1964, Louise gave birth to Janine Paulette. Janine also preceded her in death. A very difficult death because Janine was still born. In July of 1966, Louise again gave birth. This time to a rambunctious baby boy, Roger Steven. Roger has 2 sons; Steven Paul and Christopher James. Her grandsons meant more to her than almost anything. The boys were home-schooled, and Louise proudly assisted in their education. Trips to the museum and other educational but very fun activities were all part of her efforts. Through the years, Louise enjoyed working as church secretary, or secretary to the minister of music at various churches but was also able to follow her passion as a musician, playing the piano, keyboard or the organ for church services, weddings and funerals. Like her dad, she was an excellent musician. Her favorite instrument was the piano. Before his death, Louise and Paul found great joy visiting the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. Adding to her joy, was their camping trailer. She very much enjoyed preparing and caring for the trailer. Once at the camp site, Louise enjoyed taking long walks in the woods with Paul and their dogs. Although she didn't get the opportunity to camp much after Paul's death, Louise continued to enjoy her granddogs. She went to impressive lengths to see to it that the granddogs got many, many treats. After Paul's death, Louise was very pleased to have her son and grandson's visit many times each week. Adding even more joy, was the addition of her granddaughter-in-law, Bailey. On January 12, 2022, at age 76, Louise went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is missed very much.
