Lou Ann Dubree, 86, of Lubbock, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born on June 13, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas to the late Cleo Benjamin and Lura (Austin) King. Lou Ann graduated from Tahoka High School and began working as a secretary for Huffaker Industries. She moved to Alameda, California while her husband at the time, Ike Carter, was serving in the United States Navy, after two years in California they returned back to Lynn County, she then assisted him with Cotton Farming, during this time they had a son Gary Don Carter. Lou Ann later married Marshall Dubree in 1961 in New Mexico and together they had a son Eddy Dubree. She also helped him in the Cotton Industry. In 1972, she began working for Twins Fashions in Post, Texas and later retired after 20 years of service. Lou Ann attended and was very involved in the Grassland Church of Nazarene, as a single mother, she took pride in raising her two sons. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, cooking, and baking while she was able. She also loved to travel to Cloudcroft, New Mexico and Reno, Texas to visit with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary Carter and wife, Marcia, of Lorenzo, Eddy Dubree and wife, Sherri, of Lubbock.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, W.A. "Dick" King; son Mitchell Dubree.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. with Family Receiving Friends from 5:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Grassland Church of the Nazarene at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, with burial to follow at Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas.
