Obituary

Leonardo "Leo" Soliz, 61, of Slaton passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in Lubbock. He was born on August 11, 1959, in Lubbock to Benjamin and Cornelia (Caberera) Soliz. He married Mary Ochoa on June 13, 1998, in Levelland and together they became one blended family. He was a cotton farmer in the Lubbock County area. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lubbock. He was very passionate about sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and against the better judgment of his family, he was also an avid Texas Longhorns fan. Leo loved playing cornhole as the family would gather around an spend quality time with each other, Leo loved his children and grandchildren more than anything, holding a very unique bond with each one. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Soliz; Children Adam Soliz and fiancé Natasha, Joey Soliz and wife Roxanne, Stephen Leyendecker and wife Mertha, Sean Leyendecker and wife Rita, Sabrina Leyendecker and Husband David and Stephanie Quinteros and husband Eusebio, all of Lubbock; 24 grandchildren, Julian Joe Sanchez, Desiree Ann Sanchez, Jeremy Ian Maldonado, Jonathan Maldonado, Belle Kelly, Joseph Maldonado, Matthew Soliz, Alyssa Soliz, Analyssa Soliz, Triston Soliz, Layla Soliz, Melody Soliz, Jeremiah Soliz, Samantha Leyendecker, Stephen M. Leyendecker, Makayla Leyendecker, Elizabeth Leyendecker, Deandra Paiz, Niomi Soliz, Nolan Soliz, Jazzmine Quinteros, Zayden Quinteros, Amber Almager and Jaylyn Vega; five great grandchildren, Jacelyn Posadas, Addylena Sanchez, Julian Bentlee Sanchez, Charleigh Maldonado, K'lani Rose Soliz; siblings, Bobby Soliz of Lamesa, Ida Garza and husband Jacinto of Lubbock, Norma Gutierrez and husband Manuel of Smyer, Melinda Sosa and husband Alex of fort Worth, Benjamin Soliz, Jr. and wife Lilly of Lubbock and Felipe Soliz and wife Christina of Lubbock; and several extended family and friends. Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Soliz and Cornelia Soliz and mother-in-law, Felicita Ochoa. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with a prayer service being held at 7:00 P.M. at House of Angels Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Olive Baptist Church with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Woodrow, Texas.
