Juanita Salas, a longtime resident of Brownfield, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old. She was born on December 2, 1953, in Georgetown, Texas to Saragosa and Esperanza (Dominguez) Rivas. Juanita was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend, she would help everyone that needed help. She focused her time around her family, enjoying every moment she had with her grandchildren for sure. She had such a kind heart and never saw the bad in anyone, and never gave up on anyone, or any situation, she was the glue to the family. Juanita was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children, Jackie Escamilla and husband Alex of Brownfield, Kristi Salas of Ft. Worth, James Salas and wife Maria of Levelland, Jeffrey Salas and wife Crystal of Brownfield, Mark Salas and wife Jessica of Las Cruces, Frances Salas of Lubbock, Mary Salas Brownfield, and Joann Castro and husband Jerry of Brownfield; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; siblings, Chon Rivas, Robert Rivas, Roy Rivas, Sammy Rivas, Ramon Rivas, Rene Rivas, Juan Rivas, Jessie Rivas, Rosa Rivas, and Saragosa Rivas, Jr.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Saragosa and Esperanza Rivas, husband Felix Salas, son Felix Salas, Jr., daughter, Mary Ester Salas; siblings, Bernie Rivas, Richard Rivas, Lupe Rivas and Sylvia Rivas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home, 1211 Lubbock Rd, Brownfield, Texas, Funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church,1902 Levelland Hwy, Brownfield, Texas, with burial to follow the service at Brownfield Cemetery, Brownfield, Texas
