Jose Angel Portillo, 46, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1979, in Mexico to Ramon and Cleotilde (Ontiveros) Portillo. Jose was a true family man that loved being around his family and friends, he was a very social person that was always joking around and trying to make everyone smile. He loved to cook and was catholic by faith. He married Lorena Pando on April 10, 2000, in Lubbock and together they began their family. Jose will be missed by all that knew him.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Lorena Portillo; three daughters, Esmeralda Portillo, Adriana Portillo, and Liliana Portillo; parents Ramon and Cleotilde Portillo; siblings, Amado Portillo and wife Dolores, Ramon Portillo, Norma Ramirez and husband Tony, Jesus Portillo, Diana Portillo, and Salvador Portillo and several extended family members and friends.

Jose was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Portillo and one sister, Imelda Portillo.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel, 1928 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79411. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at San Ramon Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Woodrow, Texas.
