Jose Castilleja, 86, of Lubbock, formerly of Cotton Center, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. He was born on October 2, 1935, to Maurico and Ramona (Alvarez) Castilleja. Jose was a farmer; farming was his life. He married Guadalupe Rodriguez, and together they began their family. He loved music and was very talented, he played the guitar, violin, and accordion at one time, he also sang and wrote music. He loved spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Maria Garcia, Josephina Garcia and husband Verdalino and David Castilleja and wife Irma; one sister, Santos Lara; one brother, Tony Castilleja; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and another on the way, and four great-great grandchildren.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Maurico and Ramona Castilleja; wife, Guadalupe Castilleja; six siblings, Guadalupe, Victor, Francis, Martina, Maria, and Johnny; one son-in-law, Antonio Garcia, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at Center Plains Cemetery, Cotton Center, Texas.
