John J. Bujnosek, 84, of Lubbock passed away on September 13, 2022. He was born on December 3, 1937 in Vernon, TX to Joe and Josephine (Kubicek) Bujnosek. John graduated from Anton High School in 1956 and then went on to join the USAF. He was active duty for four years and was honorably discharged in 1960. John married Cheryl Tonn in 1970. They moved to New Mexico in 1974. John accepted a position at the Los Almos National Labs, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. In 2007, John and Cheryl moved to Lubbock to be closer to family. For all his life, John loved being with family, spending time in the mountains and outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Josephine Bujnosek; sister, Annie Praslicka; and brother, James Bujnosek.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl; sons, Sean of Roseville, CA and Jason and wife Tanya of Lubbock; grandsons, Beck and Jackson; granddaughters, Marlyssa, Bailey, Ciera, Aubrey and Rachel; and sisters, Mary Berry and husband Gene of Lubbock and Dorothy Bishaw and husband Leroy of LaMarque, TX.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to a veterans' organization.
