Jay William Lawrence, 75, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1951, in Shrub Oak, New York to William and Harriet (Risley) Lawrence. Jay met and married Julie Soto-Lopez in 1977 and together they began their family. Jay served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Jay attended Belknap college in New Hampshire where he earned his bachelor’s degree in meteorology. Jay was a very talented man, he taught executives how to speak English, he loved working in his flowers gardens and collecting butterflies. After retirement he began driving the school bus for LISD, he was a fantastic man, wonderful husband and loving father. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Julie Lawrence; son, Jay Albert Lawerance; and daughter Rebecca Lawrence and husband Al Storey.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents Willam and Harriet Lawrence and his brother, Wayne Lawrence.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a rosery being recited at 6:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home, 1928 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Christ the King Cathedral Catholic Church, 4011 54th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79423, military honors will be rendered following the service. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas.
