IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay
Blackard
July 17, 1950 – November 11, 2024
Jay Blackard, 74, of Lubbock, passed away at his home on November 11, 2024. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel, 1928 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas.
Jay was born in Haskell, Texas on July 17, 1950, to J.L. and Hilda (Graham) Blackard. He is preceded in death by both parents, J.L. and Hilda Blackard, and his brother Don Blackard.
Jay worked for Amoco oil company in Levelland for over 30 years. Those who loved Jay knew he had a love for fishing, collecting cars, and collecting "junk." He was always happy to see you come, but even happier to see you go. He may have been a grumpy old man, but to his family, he had a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Julie Blackard; their four daughters, Amy Sawyer and husband Kerby, Mistie Smith and husband Brad, Kathy Horne and husband Robby, and Amy Dawn Blackard; seven grandchildren, Keith, Ashley, Kyler, Kelsie, Stetson, Alexis and Sarah; and seven great grandchildren.
Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
