Guadalupe "Lupe" Gonzales, 67, of Lubbock passed away, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born on April 3, 1956, in Tahoka, Texas to Asencion and Margarita (Salas) Gonzales. Lupe was a finishing carpenter by trade. He married Janie Prieto on March 9, 1974, in Lubbock, and together they began their family. Lupe loved spending time with his family and was always busy around the house. During his spare time, he enjoyed watching old westerns on T.V. Lupe was a loving husband, father, Popo, brother, and will be missed by all that knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 50 years, Janie Gonzales; children, Guadalupe Gonzales, Jr. and wife LaVeda, Michael Gonzales and wife Lisa, and Christopher Gonzales and wife Rebecca; six grandchildren, Shae Partain, Nicholas Gonzales, Ethan Gonzales, Tatum Partain, Damien Gonzales, and Danielle Gonzales; one great-grandchild, Kylinn Partain; one brother, Edward; five sisters, Maria, Sandy, Julie, Sulema, and Tina; and several extend family members.
Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Asencion and Margarita Gonzales; three siblings, Juan, Jesse, and Maytag; and one great-granddaughter, Valerie Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 9:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Church on the Rock, South Campus, 10503 Slide Rd, Lubbock, Texas 79424, with his burial to follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
