Emmett Wayne Lunday, Jr., 71 of Lubbock passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was born on December 23, 1953, in Augusta, Arkansas to Emmett Wayne Lunday, Sr. and Emma Ruth (Williams) Lunday. Emmett married Darlene Carey on January 20, 1979, in Plainview, Texas and together they began their family. He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system as a correctional officer in 2010. He had worked at the Wheeler and Montford Units during his employment with them. He was an amazing man and will be missed by all that knew him.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Darlene Lunday; son, Steven Lunday and wife Laura; daughter, Carrie Lopez and husband Ruben; grandchildren; Kaidence Varnell, Kielsey Flores and husband Ryan, Kaitlin Lopez and Julia Lopez, Emily Lunday, and Ashten Lunday; great granddaughter, Mia Flores; sisters; Rose Abbott and husband Rick, Mary Determann, and Jo Ann Gary and fur baby, Lexi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Emma Lunday, Sr.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
