IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Smith
Bryan
December 24, 1960 – October 29, 2024
We wish to honor and remember the life of Donna Smith Bryan, a woman of strength, creativity, and resilience. Born on December 24, 1960, in Piggott, Arkansas. As the eldest of five siblings, Donna grew up with a curiosity and drive that would shape her path through life. In her early years, Donna enjoyed playing basketball, cheerleading, and writing stories. She was a strong and determined athlete on the basketball court, always putting forth her best effort in every game. As a cheerleader, Donna took great pride in cheering on the football team. But it was her love for storytelling that truly set her apart—she would often lose herself in the worlds she created, crafting stories with an imagination that knew no bounds. These early passions showcased her creativity that would shape her path in life. Donna followed a path filled with varied passions and accomplishments. After finishing high school in Lubbock, she became a beautician, a role she loved, especially when running a salon in a nursing home, where she enjoyed her clients' company and friendships. During this time Donna married Morris Bryan, and in 1986, welcomed their son, Chad.
Donna's love for creativity extended into a new passion—jewelry. Her first introduction to the craft came while working at a jewelry store, where she became fascinated with gemstones, design, and the intricate work of crafting unique pieces. This sparked a lifelong hobby that became a huge interest to her. She delighted in working with beads, often spending hours perfecting a single piece. Creating jewelry became her personal art form, and each piece she crafted held a touch of her spirit and care. Her career took another turn when she earned a teaching degree from Wayland Baptist University in 1994. Donna's teaching journey led her to classrooms across Texas and California, where she shared her knowledge and dedication with her students. She eventually returned to Texas to finish her teaching career in Lockney. She retired in 2023, spending her final months focused on jewelry-making and crafting.
Donna and Chad shared many adventures, creating lasting memories together. One of the notable chapters in their lives was their move to Burleson, where Donna pursued her teaching career. This transition opened up new opportunities for both of them. Their weekends were often filled with rock-hunting expeditions, where they explored nature's treasures and reveled in the thrill of discovery. One of their most cherished adventures was a memorable trip to Alabama, where they spent countless hours exploring the landscape, soaking in the beauty around them, and deepening their bond through shared experiences.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Marilyn Smith; her brother, Todd Smith; and her first husband, Morris Bryan. She leaves behind her beloved son, Chad Bryan, his wife, Torie, and their daughter, Conley. Donna is also survived by her siblings, Fain Smith and his wife, Donna; Tabbi Wischkaemper and her husband, Marc; and Brandi DeLong, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward her memory.
Donna Smith Bryan's legacy is one of dedication, creativity, and resilience. May she rest in peace, and may her memory inspire us all to embrace life's journey with passion and strength.
