Obituary

Dominga Escobar Rodriguez gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born on August 18, 1940, in Kyle, Texas to the late Rosalio and Emiliana Escobar. A mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm with Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel in Lubbock, Texas. She was employed for several years at Texas Instruments and found time to continue her education attending night school. In her later working years, she worked for Sodexho providing janitorial services to her neighborhood Jackson Elementary. There she was able to watch over some of her grandchildren who attended. She proudly spoke of attending and serving in various Cursillos and how it brought her closer to God, with the goal of teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of His presence in our lives. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace and served others when she was able. Her passions included gardening, playing Bingo, gambling at various casinos with her siblings in Colorado, and spending quality family time. She loved family gatherings and would be the first to wear her football gear to get the momentum going. Her laughter was contagious, and she enjoyed sitting for hours with her grandchildren putting together the most difficult of puzzles. Grandma's home was the best little house of love. Those to cherish her lifelong memories and carry on her legacy include her 9 children: Santos Jr., Margaret Garcia (Gilbert), Tony, Paula, David, Lucy Pena (Mark), Peter (Stella), MaryHelen (Robert) and Gabriel. She was blessed with 30 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Brothers: Florencio, Gilbert, and Jose; Sisters: Mary Mestas, Sylvia Abila, Lupe Olmos, Clara Lopez, and Rosa Ortiz. She is preceded in death by parents Rosalio and Emiliana Escobar, brothers Julio, Pedro, and Feliciano Escobar; a grandchild, Peter Jr.; and Santos Rodriguez, Sr.
