Lubbock

Diana ‘Bunnie’ Navarrette, age 56, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on February 12, 2026, in Lubbock. Born on December 7, 1969, to Gonzalo and Guadalupe Martinez, Diana was a lifelong resident of Lubbock and an honors graduate of Estacado High School. She later earned her bachelor’s degree at American Commercial College, reflecting her determination and dedication to personal growth. She spent her youth having fun with her many brothers and sisters, roller skating and cruising around Lubbock parks, fell in love at 18 years old, and started her abundant and blessed life. Married on October 17, 1988, Diana’s beautiful family began with her husband Harvey. Becoming a wife and mother was purposeful and fulfilling to her, as she did so through Christ. Making a point in her daily life to teach her children lessons and pour her heart into her marriage. She taught her children that a mother’s love is unwavering, faith is most important in this world, being strong is the only option, a humble heart is the main goal, forgiveness should always be available, and God is always first.

Diana was known for her incredible resilience, kindness, generosity, and peaceful spirit. She had a unique gift for bringing calmness and warmth into any room she entered. She found joy in puzzles, diamond art, baking, cooking, decorating, and crafting — creative expressions that reflected her passionate and patient nature. She loved to decorate for the holidays, making her house into a home that was welcoming and comforting to all who entered. Being the amazing hostess that she was, she enjoyed making holiday parties for all the family. She was a romantic at heart, reading books about love stories, watching shows that portrayed love, family, and humor. You would consistently find her watching Little House on the Prairie, rewatching John Wayne movies, listening to country music and laughing at her husband’s jokes. Her laugh and smile was contagious, one had no choice but to join her in happiness. She took on a maternal role to all the little ones in her family, being a mother that anyone could go to for advice, a listening ear, a loving hug, and a breath of fresh air.

Diana devoted her life to her family, beloved husband of 37 years, Harvey Navarette, and their children, Edward, Matthew and Rosie Navarrette. She was a nurturing grandmother to her grandsons Jason and Jay, and her granddaughters Jo’Lynn, Delilah, and Ariel, who made her heart overflow with an abundance of happiness and love. She viewed her grandchildren as her precious angels sent from God. During her career in home health offices billing for Medicare, Diana extended her caring spirit beyond her home, volunteering to deliver for Meals on Wheels alongside her coworkers. Serving others came naturally to her as well as being the greatest friend one could have. She always went above and beyond for her family and friends under any circumstances. She ensured that the ones she loved were cared for, content and at peace.

She is survived by her caring husband, Harvey; their children and grandchildren; mother Guadalupe Martinez and her siblings, Raymond Martinez, Lupe Anguiano, Delores Knopf, Emilio Martinez, and Daniel Martinez; nephews, nieces, and cousins that loved her dearly. As well as her best friend, Terry Valencia who was one of her caretakers alongside her nieces, Sonya and Amelia Hernandez; and her precious companion that never left her side, dog Daisy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gonzalo Martinez, and her sisters, Mary Martinez, Angela Perales, and Susana Martinez. Joining hands with them in heaven as Jesus welcomed her home.

Diana consistently spoke God’s golden rule to all who were fortunate to know her, and she lived up to this rule until her final breath. “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” Matthew 7:12

“You were the calm within the storm, the steady hand, the loving form. A gentle voice, a caring way, a brighter light in every day. Though Heaven called you from our side, your love in us will forever reside. Gone but never forgotten, this we know, because your light will eternally glow.”
