Delia Cortez, a lifelong resident of Lubbock, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on October 13, 1952, to Evaristo and Natividad (Hernandez) Cortez. Delia loved music, word puzzles and was an avid reader, especially of the Bible. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, and her grandchildren added even more joy to her life.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joe Angel Moreno, Jr, Nick Moreno and wife Bianca Vasquez, Carlos Moreno and wife Tam Dong, Freddy Thomas Moreno, and Priscilla Marie Moreno; brothers, Elmo Cortez, John Cortez and wife Juanita, Freddy Cortez and wife Bertha, and Robert Cortez and wife Sylvia; four grandchildren, Adrain Moreno, Josiah Malachi Subia, Aaliyah Renee Moreno, and Kenny Moreno and several extend family members and friends.

Delia was preceded in death by her parents, Evaristo and Natividad Cortez, her husband, Jose Angel Moreno, Sr, and brothers Felix Cortez and Sunny Cortez.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at House of Angels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Thrive Family Church, with Pastor Robert Cortez officiating. Burial will follow services at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, Woodrow, Texas.
