Darrel Ray Friday, 76, of Amherst, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 in Lubbock. He was born on November 29, 1944 in Littlefield, Texas to Gustav and Helena (Timian) Friday. He married Ruby Kittrell on September 29, 1976 in Clovis, New Mexico and they began their lives together. Darrel loved to restore old cars, tractors and other metal works, he also enjoyed building and racing cars and lawnmowers. He loved to go camping, fishing and boating, even when the water was flooding into the boat, and he still caught a fish. Darrel enjoyed a good bar-b-cue anytime and loved his quality family time. He was an avid history buff. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruby Friday; son, Stacey Friday, daughter Dusty Farmer and husband Teak; two stepsons, Timothy Roberts and Terry Roberts and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Blaze Friday and family, Kami Friday and family, Austin Friday, Donavan sides, and Katlynn Farmer: great grandchildren; Kamron Friday and Noah Crowson and several other extended family members. Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Helena Friday; his late wife, Joyce Friday; three siblings, Clarence Dean "Sonny" Friday, Bobby Jean Waggner, and Orvil Lee Friday; two nephews, Stephen and David Friday and eight grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Cremation services under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas.
