Benito Rivera, Jr., 71, of Brownfield, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1954 in Richmond, Texas to Benito Rivera, Sr. and Dolores (Ramirez) Rivera. He was very talented, he sang and played the 12-string guitar, as a younger musician he played for Lydia Mendoza, know as the first queen of Tejano. Benito also enjoyed playing bingo. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are two very special nieces, Silvia Martinez and Ignacia G. Mendez; one brother, Paublo Garza and several other extended family and friends.
Benito was preceded in death by his parents, Benito, Sr. and Dolores Rivera: siblings, Guillermo Rivera, Dora Carolina Moreno, Jesse Rivera, Maria Rivera Rodriguez, Celia Valdez, and Dolores Rivera.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Brownfield Cemetery. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home, Brownfield, Texas.
The family would like to thank everyone that assisted with donations that were applied to the services for Benito. Your thoughtfulness has not gone unnoticed.
