Obituary

Amparo Sanchez, 87, of Lubbock, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023. She was born on February 5, 1936 in Crystal City, Texas to Antonio and Sapopa (Riojas) Villegas. Amparo had a love for her family and quality time was very important to her. She was also very involved in her faith; she has been very active with the Jehovah's Witnesses for over 54 years. Amparo never met a stranger, everyone that knew her loved her from the beginning. She believed in keeping her mind sharp, so one way she did this was to watch game shows on TV.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Amparo Caudillo, Marcos Sanchez, Sylvia Aldama, Stella Hurtado, Irma Hinojosa, Gabriel Sanchez, Jr., Diana Belcher, Dolores Hernandez, Ana Owen and Yolanda Sanchez; sisters, Juanita Solis, Rosa Pena and Margarita Pena; 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Amparo was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gabriel Sanchez, Sr, her parents, Antonio and Sapopa Villegas, sister, Lupe, and three brothers.

A memorial service directed by the family will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1907 E. 13th Street, Lubbock Texas 79403. Zoom connections will be available closer to the actual service date, please contact the family for more information. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
